Rocky Mountain Steel in Olathe recently became 100% employee-owned, benefiting from tax credits and a cash collateral support program offered by the Colorado Employee Ownership Office. This initiative, part of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, provides business owners with up to $150,000 in tax credits to offset conversion costs and offers cash deposits as collateral for loans, helping employees who might struggle to meet traditional lending requirements. As more businesses explore this model, it's shaping up to be a valuable alternative for securing long-term stability and preserving local jobs across the state.
